CHANNEL EXTENSION

Computer Network Technology Corporation (CNT) designed, manufactured and supported a wide range of remote storage networking applications for data replication, tape vaulting, check sorting and printing. In January 2005 McData Corp. acquired CNT and then on January 31 2007, McData Corp. itself was acquired by Brocade Corp. Today the CNT legacy still lives on at Brocade with the UltraNet Storage Director-eXtended (USDX) and Edge 3000 channel extender product lines that are updated versions of highly successful CNT products.

KCI, Inc. supports and maintains all legacy channel extenders originally manufactured by CNT and its successors - Brocade and McData - and provides "Change Management Services" (CMS) for these products by reconfiguring your channel extension network based on enterprise system configuration changes.

UltraNet Storage Directors (USD/USDX)

The UltraNet® Storage Director is a high-speed, multi-protocol gateway platform that interconnects and extends ESCON-based host-to-host, host-to-peripheral, host-to-storage and storage-to-storage systems across your enterprise—regardless of distance—to help create a high capacity, high performance enterprise network.
USD and USDX networks can be used for remote tape vaulting, storage replication, printing, check sorting and communications.

EDGE 3000

The UltraNet Edge Storage Router -Model 3000 enable many of the most cost-effective, enterprise strength data replication solutions

available, fully exploiting high performance storage and replication software to maximize data availability and enable business continuity over extended distances. The configuration flexibility of the UltraNet Edge 3000 enable a routed storage infrastructure that can easily adapt to changing connectivity requirements.

Brocade 7500

The Brocade 7500 combines 4 Gbit/sec Fibre Channel switching and routing capabilities with powerful hardware-assisted traffic forwarding for Fibre Channel over IP (FCIP). It features 16 Fibre Channel ports and two 1 Gigabit

Ethernet ports - delivering high performance to run storage applications at line-rate speed with either protocol. By integrating these services in a single platform, the Brocade 7500 offers a wide range of benefits for storage and SAN connectivity, including SAN scaling, long-distance extension, greater resource sharing (either locally or across geographical areas), and simplified management.

Channelink (Models: NAU/SAU/XAU)

The CNT Channelink channel extenders enable fast reliable communication between network components. It provides Channel-to-Channel; Host-to-Peripheral; Host-to-DBC and TCP/IP to a multi-functioning networking.
